CAKE this weekend!

I was going to draw a map to show where my table at CAKE is, but I think instead I'll just steal Beth Hetland's.

Chicago! This weekend! See you there!

Some people keep food in their kitchen cupboards, I have comics.

Island Brat #2 arrived from the printers today! Which means I have a new box of comics taking up space in my house, and need to get rid of some old ones. To help clear space, I put together some bundles now for sale in the Etsy shop.

Get both issues of Island Brat and save $1

Or five issues of Tragic Relief and save $3

And I found these really old issues of Tragic Relief- they're a little beat up, so you'll save $5 if you buy this set...man, pre-2007 work. It's a little embarrassing.

Where have you been?

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been busy finishing Island Brat 2 and getting ready for CAKE. I'm excited. Are you?

Stumptown 2012 Review

Here's a photo that a friend took of the convention floor Saturday at about noon. They had to sneak into the VIP lounge to take it (I wasn't even aware the show had a VIP lounge) and doesn't want to be named. Which I find hilarious.

Anyway, this photo really sums of the show for me. See the empty tables next to ours? There were also a couple of empty tables behind us...and in the next section over. Every show usually has a few no-shows, but their spaces get taken pretty quickly by squatters. Some of these stayed empty all weekend. What happened, Stumptown?

Where was everybody?

Post-Con Lull

Hey! My friends won some really cute awards at the Stumptown Comics Festival this past weekend. You should buy their books and see what all the fuss is about.

STUMPTOWN BOUND!

I missed my Monday update, partly because Blogger has made changes to their format and now updating is pretty frustrating. Today it won't let me put text in between images, so you're gonna get a big unattractive text block at the top here, then all the fun stuff below. Sorry.

I'm going to miss the Friday update one as well. All because of STUMPTOWN!

This week has all been convention prep. Packing books. Making new signs. Making new mini comics! I put together a 1-sheet, 8 panel business card comic to give away FREE at the show, just stop by table C17.

I'm sharing a table with the lovely Ms. Nomi Kane, and we put together a split-mini for the show, about our experiences readjusting to West Coast culture after a few years in Vermont.

That's all for now! Hope to see you at the show!!

Nothing new today, so here's something old. Back in like...2008-2009, CCS gave students to opportunity to sell their black and white line drawings to Sunrise Greetings (a division of Hallmark). I think they ended up buying about 100 drawings all together. I think they bought like 4 of mine, and then...that was it. Didn't hear anything more about the project. Then last week I was wasting time at Borders, and saw a bunch of familiar drawings in the greeting cards section!

I didn't recognize the name on this one, but it had the CCS logo on the back, so I'm guessing someone was using a pseudonym. Anyone want to claim it?

Still haven't seen any of my own drawings in card-form, but I heard tale of one showing up on a birthday card in a post office lobby a few years back. If anyone out there happens to find one, please snap a photo for me and I will totally reward you with fabulous prizes (like a free mini comic, or a drawing, or $2.50 since that's how much these cards costs)!
