Still out of it, here's another page from my "Daily Catch" anthology story:

Sick Day
I'd hoped to have something new to post, but I'm out sick. It's Nyquil and cartoons time.
Here's something new to anyone who didn't attend SPX- Jon Chad, Katherine Roy, Laura Terry and me sold 100 copies of our "Daily Catch" anthology at the show:
This is the first page of my story. There's no plans to reprint this book, but we are planning another one for next year. I'll post the rest of the pages later in the week.

Derby Girls
Watercolor Sketches
Anyone read this who knew me from Forks Elementary (I lived in Forks before the vampires)?
I was one of those creepy kids on roller skates who'd circle the block all day. The hobby died when we moved to a neighborhood with hills, but had a brief resurrection when I attended a Middle School that offered roller blading as a gym option.
From a bout we attended in late August, the Quabbin' Missle Crisis vs. the Florence Fighting Gals.
Guess the point is, I like having wheels on my feet. Probably never going to join a derby team, as I'm too afraid of breaking a hand and have enough to do between the job and comics. But I enjoy it as a spectator sport, and have been thinking about training as a ref.
Watercolor Sketches
There's a roller rink not far from here, the Great View Fun Center, they have an 80's night and cheap skate rentals.
Me, Jon Chad, Elaina, Jen Vaughn and Beth Hetland
A group of us went skating last weekend, and I only fell once! And that was to avoid killing a little kid who had fallen down in front of me...swear he was doing it on purpose just for fun. Had to re-teach myself how to stop.
Skating is good exercise.

SPX 2010 report
So there was-
and this-
and then-
and it all ended with some of this-
HIGHLIGHTS-
*Tabling with Jon Chad, Katherine Roy and Laura Terry! They're a stand-up bunch of folks.
* Getting to talk with Jay Hosler again. We'd met when he came through town as a visiting artist in 2008, he's one of my favorite cartoonists.
LOWLIGHTS-
* No room! It was crazy crowded on both sides of the tables. I touched way too many butts that weekend. SPX organizers, PLEEEASE get a bigger space next year, or expand into a 2nd ballroom or something.

SPX-cited part 4!
More books on Table H15 at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, MD September 11th and 12th, 2010! "Daily Catch" is a small anthology with work from me and my table mates, Jon Chad, Katherine Roy, and Laura Terry, full of stories about the ocean.
Here's a sample panel from my story, which is a little autobio piece about growing up on an island in the Puget Sound. Quick note- these are not fat dolphins or badly drawn orcas. They're dall's porpoises. And they are pretty fat and funny-looking.
Leaving for Bethesda on Friday! Very exciting!
