McNeil Island Comic Cover Sketches

This thing is very close to being done! Probably not in time for MoCCA, but soon after!

Scratch that, the comic will probably be done in time for MoCCA, but it probably won't be back from the printers in time.

I've been doing some cover doodles now, to save myself the anxiety (covers stress me out). Here's a couple of ideas:

Feedback appreciated. So far the best comment I've gotten from showing these around is "that green water makes me feel crazy". Puget Sound always looked green to me?

  1. I like the first one because you can see your character more which I think piques an interest in the story. I know I'm interested.

  2. I love the second one, although the child fades away a big, and I don't think the water and the seaweed should be the same shade of green.

  3. I'm glad that the green on the rocks read as seaweed!

Based on all the feedback, thinking of redrawing the 2nd one so that the kid is climbing over the text more? And trying some different colors.

  4. I like the first one as a sort of austere, imposing scene, but I alo like the playfulness of the second, so depending on the tone of the story, either one could work. I do agree with the comments saying the figure could stand out better in the second. Looking forward to reading this!
